Let the Lord do the Driving

Filed under: Uncategorized — cestenger @ 7:03 pm

As I turned onto the street, I caught the first light.  I did not want to sit through another light.  I wanted to get home and put my groceries away.  I turned to see the car sitting to my left that was in the turning lane.  It was a 4 door car with the windows rolled down.  There was a woman driving and her teen aged daughter in the back.

I, then, saw one of the funniest sights I have seen in a while.   There in the backseat was a dog.  He was in the seat all by himself.  He had his head lying on the door with his face sticking out to breathe the fresh air.  The dog was actually asleep.  He could care less where he was or what others were doing.  He was enjoying the pretty day by taking a nap.

All I could do was laugh.  This dog was so cute and I could not contain myself.  The Lord knew I needed a good laugh.

The light turned green and I proceeded to drive home.  As I was going down the street I thought, “that is how we are to go through life is we are God’s children.”  I am not to worry where I am going or who is around.  All I need to do is remember the Lord is driving and I can trust Him to take care of me.

Once I became an Heir of the Kingdom, I should trust the Lord with everything.  He did not save me to be filled with fear and worry.  I now have someone, a best friend, I can go to.  I am to lay all my burdens and worries at the feet of Jesus.  I can have peace resting in the ever loving arms of the Lord if I will only remember the dog in the backseat with his head out of the window.

victory report

If you have listened to any news in the past 24 hours, you will know
that Omaha–we are basically a suburb of it–had a terrible shooting
yesterday.  I have some good news out of it.  Our pastor’s wife–Renee
Toney–was working in the very store that the shooting took place–in the
gift wriapping section where the kid killed some of the people.  She is
okay.  The pastor was on the news even.  Sister Toney told him that
this kid was shooting people all around her but never hit her.  I would
just like to say thank the Lord for protecting her.  I believe there was
angels all around her.  This happens just when revival is about to
break out in Omaha.
Thought many of you could use some good news out of this awful news

President Lincoln’s proclamation for Thanksgiving Day

Filed under: Uncategorized — cestenger @ 5:50 pm

A Proclamation.

The Year that is drawing to a close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke the aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theater of military conflict; while that theater has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.Needful diversion of wealth and strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defense, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle or the ship; the axe has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore.

Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege, and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.

No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People.

I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.

And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascription’s justly due to Him for such singular deliverance’s and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation, and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and Union.

In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.

Done at the City of Washington, this Third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the Independence of the United States the Eighty-eighth.

something I read lately

Filed under: Uncategorized — cestenger @ 3:58 pm

Here is something I read today and thought it would increase your faith.  It is really good.

God……………..Always Answer Prayer

When the idea is not right God says, “NO”
No-When the idea is not the best
No- When the idea is absolutely wrong
No- When though it may help you, it could create problems for someone else.

When the time is not right, God says “SLOW”
What a catastrophe it would be if God answered every prayer at the snap of your fingers.Do you know what would happen? God would become your servant, not your master. Suddenly, God would be working for you instead or you working for God.

Remember: God’s delays are not God’s denials, God’s timing is perfect. Patience
is what we need in prayers.

When you are not right, God says, “GROW”
The Selfish person has to grow in unselfishness.
The Cautious person must grow courage.
The Timid person must grow in confidence.
The Dominating person must grow in sensitivity.
The Critical person must grow in tolerance.
The negative person must grow in positive attitudes.
The Pleasure-Seeking person must grow in compassion for suffering people.

When everything is all right, God says “GO”
The Miracles Happen:
A hopeless alcoholic is set free!
A drug addict finds realest!
A doubter become as a child in his belief.
Diseased tissue responds to treatment, And healing begins.
The door to your dream suddenly swings open and there stands God saying “GO”
I thought that this was good to read this is by Dr. Robert Schulter

NORTH AND THE SOUTH

Filed under: Uncategorized — cestenger @ 6:59 pm

The North has Bloomingdales, The South has Dollar General

The North has coffee houses, The South has Waffle Houses.

The North has dating services, The South has family reunions.

The North has switchblade knives, The South has Lee Press-on Nails.

The North has double last names, The South has double first names.

The North has Indy car races, The South has stock car races.

The North has Cream of Wheat, The South has grits.

The North has green salads, The South has collard greens.

The North has lobsters, The South has crawfish.

The North has the rust belt, The South has the Bible Belt.

FOR NORTHERNERS MOVING SOUTH . . .

If you run your car into a ditch, don’t panic. Four men in a four-wheel drive pickup truck with a tow chain will be along shortly. Don’t try to help them, just stay out of their way. This is what they live for.

Don’t be surprised to find movie rentals and bait in the same store….do not buy food at this store.

Remember, “y’all” is singular, “all y’all” is plural, and “all y’all’s” is plural possessive.

Get used to hearing “You ain’t from round here, are ya?”

Save all manner of bacon grease. You will be instructed later on how to use it.

Don’t be worried at not understanding what people are saying. They can’t understand you either.

The first Southern statement to creep into a transplanted Northerner’s vocabulary is the adjective “big’ol”. Big ol” truck or big’ol” boy. Most Northerners begin their Southern-influenced dialect this way. All of them are in denial about it.

The proper pronunciation you learned in school is no longer proper.

Be advised that “He needed killin.” is a valid defense here.

If you hear a Southerner exclaim, “Hey, y’all, watch this,” you should stay out of the way. These are likely to be the last words he’ll ever say.

If there is the prediction of the slightest chance of even the smallest accumulation of snow, your presence is required at the local grocery store. It doesn’t matter whether you need anything or not. You just have to go there.

Do not be surprised to find that 10-year olds own their own shotguns, they are proficient marksmen, and their mammas taught them how to shoot.

We have found that the best way to grow a lush green lawn is to pour gravel on it and call it a driveway.

AND REMEMBER: If you do settle in the South and bear children, don’t think we will accept them as Southerners. After all, if the cat had kittens in the oven, we wouldn’t call ‘em biscuits.

Who are the real heroes

Filed under: Uncategorized — cestenger @ 10:07 pm

Heroes aren’t athletes who set new sports records, or Hollywood actors
who make ‘daring’ films or politicians who make bold promises. Heroes

Letter Writing

Filed under: Uncategorized — cestenger @ 6:45 pm

“And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of  exhortation:  for I have written a letter unto you in few words.” (Hebrews 13:22)

Have you ever thought about the people Paul touched through his letters but never

 met?  Well, I have lately.

My husband is in the Air Force and we move a lot.  Since 1998, we have moved

four times.  That is a lot but that means a lot of friends too.  Sometimes my husband,

Bob, and I feel like evangelists sometimes.  Think of how many people we could touch

and reach for God.

I love writing letters and getting letters.  Letter writing has been lost over the

years.  People would rather talk on the phone or just not stay in contact at all.  It

takes too much time.

Besides letter writing (snail mail), I do a lot of email too.  We have friends and

family all over the
United States.  We have friends in other countries too.

Calling our family and friends sometimes can get expensive especially if I were to call

Brazil or
Panama.

I get an Amish magazine that encourages women to stay home to raise their

families.  I saw a letter to the editor 3 years ago and felt to write a response.  The ladies

name was Maggie and she was having problems at her church that were too similar to

what we had just been through.  I wrote her about the things we learned.  I also put a little

truth of God’s word in there.  I heard from her once and that was all.

Her mother, Marie, wrote me.  She said she liked the letter I wrote to her

daughter.  I have been writing her back and forth for 3 years now.

She has not wanted to hear about Pentecost and still she says she does not believe

everything that we do.  She says she’s a Christian and not Pentecostal.

Marie was leaning towards the Anabaptist faith when I started writing her.  All I could do

was be her friend and pray for God to move in her life.

I told Marie about a church where she lived. (
West Virginia).  It’s great to know

how to find churches on the internet.  She knew some of the people there.  She started

going to the church and loved the worship.

She now says that she is not a visitor to the church anymore.  Marie told me that if

the church would stay open 7 days a week she would be there.

Marie has now received the Holy Ghost.  God still has a lot of work to do on

Marie and I believe He will finish the work He has begun in her and save her family as

well.

She now is involved with God’s work and is bringing people to church.

I can’t wait to see what God will do next!!!

You don’t have to be in the presence of a person to help them and show them   truth!!  I have never met Marie but that has not stopped our friendship.   I now have 6 more pen pals and plan to have more.
